Rock Outcroppings in the Libyan Desert

 

Massive sand dunes have been swept between rock outcroppings in the barren Libyan Desert.Only a handful of oases lie scattered across this especially arid section of the vastSahara Desert.

This scene was acquired by the ASTER instrument on NASA’s Terra satellite onMarch 2, 2002.
