Melting snow and spring rain have combined to produce floods on the rivers of southern Poland. While not as severe as floods have been in recent years, the high rivers have inundated 1,200 buildings and left two people missing. On March 22, 2005, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) captured the top image of southern Poland. The Wisla River and its tributaries are much higher than they were on October 13, 2004, before the snow and clouds of winter obscured the rivers from view. The images are shown in false color so that water is dark blue, snow is light blue, and clouds are white. Vegetation is bright green, and bare earth is tinted pink.
