Where the Volga River flows into the Caspian Sea, it creates an extensive delta. TheVolga Delta is comprised of more than 500 channels and sustains the most productivefishing grounds in Eurasia.

This image was acquired byLandsat 7's Enhanced Thematic Mapper plus(ETM+) sensor on August 29, 1999. This is a false-color composite image made using shortwaveinfrared, infrared, and red wavelengths.
