Caldwell 96 (NGC 2516) Inset
The image in the upper right, taken with a single infrared filter by Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3), shows stars near the center of Caldwell 96 (NGC 2516), along with several background galaxies, which appear as extended, fuzzy objects. A ground-based image from the Digitized Sky Survey (DSS), in the lower left, includes an outline showing what part of the cluster was observed by Hubble.
