In the early morning hours of March 3, 2026, the Moon passed into Earth's shadow. NASA photographer Bill Dunford captured these views of the total lunar eclipse over Knolls, Utah.

The Moon seen about half eclipsed, its left half shining bright white and its right side glowing red. The Moon is about halfway set behind a ridge with the silhouettes of bushes. A few clouds reflect the Moon’s light.
