Sol 0016: Mast-Mounted Navigation Camera, Cylindrical Perspective

NASA's Mars rover Curiosity took 23 image pairs in Gale Crater using its mast-mounted Navigation Camera (Navcam) to create this mosaic. The seam-corrected mosaic provides a 360-degree cylindrical perspective projection panorama of the Martian surface suitable for stereo viewing, centered at 311 degrees azimuth (measured clockwise from north). This anaglyph must be viewed with red/blue glasses (red over left eye).  Curiosity took the images on August 23, 2012, Sols 16-17 of the Mars Science Laboratory mission at drive 78, site number 3. The local mean solar time for the image exposures was from 2 PM to 4 PM. Each Navcam image has a 45-degree field of view. CREDIT: NASA/JPL-Caltech
