NASA's Mars rover Curiosity took 23 images in Gale Crater using its mast-mounted Left Navigation Camera (Navcam) to create this mosaic. The seam-corrected mosaic provides a polar stereographic projection panorama of the Martian surface with 0 degrees azimuth (measured clockwise from north) at the top of the image. Curiosity took the images on April 08, 2015, Sol 949 of the Mars Science Laboratory mission at drive 1276, site number 45. The local mean solar time for the image exposures was from 1 PM to 2 PM. Each Navcam image has a 45-degree field of view. CREDIT: NASA/JPL-Caltech
