This image taken by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter shows the very steep outer scarp of north polar layered deposits on Mars. Every year there is a lot of slope activity in the springtime when sunlight warms these slopes.

Many dark streaks extend down the slope, but there is no sign yet of larger avalanches that have been common in past years.
