Transportation

Light Rail

The Los Angeles Metro Rail system operates daily, generally running approximately 18–24 hours per day depending on the line, with trains arriving every 8–20 minutes on most routes. The expanding rail network connects many major destinations across the Los Angeles region, including Los Angeles, Pasadena, and surrounding communities. Rail service to Pasadena is provided by the L Line (Gold), which links Pasadena with Downtown Los Angeles, Long Beach, and other regional transit connections, making travel throughout the area convenient for visitors and residents alike. LA Metro Transit Maps can be found here.

Directions to Pasadena from Los Angeles International Airport: From the airport terminals, take the free LAX shuttle to the Aviation/LAX Station, where travelers can connect to the C Line (Los Angeles Metro). Transfer at Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station to the A Line (Los Angeles Metro), which continues north through Downtown Los Angeles. Transfer again at the 7th Str/Metro Center to the B Line (Red) and once again at Union Station to the L Line (Gold) north and onward to Pasadena. The LAX shuttle buses operate frequently and are designed to accommodate travelers with luggage, providing convenient connections between the airport terminals and the Metro Rail system throughout the day. Consider using the LA Metro Trip Planner.
