A bright, purple oval with an even brighter, white core. The core appears to have one very bright, white region and then a slightly dimmer white region.  To the upper-right of the primary purple oval is a much smaller bright purple circle with a white center.

Chandra Images Galaxy Cluster CL0016+1609 or MACS J0018.5+1626

This image of galaxy cluster CL0016+1609 (also called MACS J0018.5+1626) is from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory. It was part of an observing program to help determine the Hubble constant. The Chandra program looked at 38 galaxy clusters with distances ranging from 1.4 to 9.3 billion light years from Earth.
