Lago de Atitlán, dark blue, is nestled into the landscape, with human settlements along the coast and Volcanos, covered in deep green foliage, around the lower coastline. Volcán Atitlán is labeled, near the bottom center of the image. Just above that and closer to the lake is Volcán Tolimán which base spreads increasingly gradually to the lake shore.  On the left edge of Volcán Tolimán the municipality of  Santiago Atitlán. A narrow strip of the lake separates this settlement from Volcán San Pedro.  At the top of the lake are the river deltas of Rio Panajachel and Rio Quiscab
