Early Career Workshop
The Science Mission Directorate hosted the pilot of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate’s New Hires virtual workshop May 19-20, 2022. This was a new workshop to introduce new hires (the last 1-3 years) at NASA Centers to career opportunities and the big picture of NASA science. The creation of this workshop was a recommendation of the 2021 Agency Science Workforce Study. Our goal is for workshop participants to broaden their networks outside their local organization and leave with tools and resources that allow them to be more intentional with their career trajectory.
Participants had the opportunity to meet other recent science hires and attend 4 workshop panels:
Career Path Panel
Panel of science leaders to help new hires learn more about their paths to leadership and possible career opportunities on May 19, 2022 at 11:55 AM Eastern.
Introduction to NASA’s 6 Research Divisions Panel
Panel of NASA’s research division directors to help new hires learn about research in all of NASA’s research divisions on May 20, 2022 at 10:00 AM Eastern.
A Day in the Life Panel
Panel of research scientists to help new hires learn more about the day-to-day aspects of life as a scientist at NASA on May 20, 2022 at 11:10 AM Eastern.
