ROSES-25 D.3 AGIGO: Swift, Fermi, and TESS Observatories Second Opportunities; Phase-1 Proposals Due 28 January 2027

21 October 2026

The Neil Gehrels Observatory, Fermi Gamma-ray Space Observatory, and the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) General Investigator programs solicit proposals for basic research relevant to the respective missions.

ROSES-25 Amendment 80 announces second opportunities to propose to the Swift, Fermi, and TESS General Investigator (GI) programs in ROSES-25. The due date for Phase-1 Proposals (submitted via the Astrophysics Research Knowledgebase Remote Proposal System (ARK RPS)) for all three is 28 January 2027. The text for these three new opportunities may be found in the new Sections 12, 13, and 14, respectively of D.3 Combined General Investigator General Observer Program.

Swift Cycle 23 will commence on or about 1 July 2027, and last for a nominal period of 12 months. Proposals for Swift archival data-analysis investigations addressing all areas of astrophysics are solicited in GI Cycle 23. The following proposal categories, supported in previous cycles, will also be included in Cycle 23: Theoretical GRB and non-GRB Investigations, Other Correlative Investigations (GRB and non-GRB), and New Swift GRB Projects.

Fermi Cycle 20 will commence about 5 to 10 months after the proposal due date and last for a nominal period of 12 months (3 years for large proposals). The Fermi GI program is intended to encourage scientific participation by providing funding to carry out investigations using Fermi data, to conduct correlative observations at other wavelengths, to develop data analysis techniques applicable to the Fermi data, and to carry out theoretical investigations in support of Fermi observations.

TESS Cycle 10 will commence about 5 to 10 months after the proposal due date and last for a nominal period of 12 months (2 years for large programs). Proposals are solicited for the acquisition and analysis of new scientific data from the TESS mission taken during Cycle 10 from Sector 122 starting 19 September 2027, to Sector 134 ending 13 September 2028. Additionally, proposals that support the acquisition and/or analysis of scientific data from ground-based telescopes are solicited. Such ground-based programs must directly support the analysis and/or interpretation of TESS scientific data, either taken during Cycle 10 or in the archive.

This cropped horizontal image has layers of semi-opaque rusty red colored gas and dust that starts at the bottom right and goes toward the top left. There are three prominent pillars rising toward the top left. The left pillar is the largest and widest. The peaks of the second and third pillars are set off in darker shades of brown and have red outlines.
