Fires Along Coast of Northwest Australia

Fires (red dots) were detected by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Aqua satellite all along the northwest Australia coastline on June 11, 2003. An especially smoky patch of fires is visible at the top right of the image, southwest of Melville Island.
