Fires in the Nile River Delta

When the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite passed over Egypt on October 17, 2014, several small fires—likely agricultural fires—were burning in the Nile River Delta. Red outlines show where MODIS detected high surface temperatures associated with active burning.
