In the early afternoon on August 27, 2014, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite acquired this natural-color image of Hurricane Cristobal. At the time, the storm had maximum sustained winds of 70 knots (80 miles per hour), making it a category 1 hurricane.
