Tropical Cyclone Kalunde peaked as a Category 5 cyclone on Sunday, March 8, 2003, and had weakened to a Category 3 storm as of Wednesday, March 12, with winds gusting up to 130 knots (150 miles per hour). This true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image of Kalunde was acquired by the Terra satellite on March 12, 2003.

The high-resolution image provided above is 500 meters per pixel. The MODIS Rapid Response System provides this image at MODIS? maximum spatial resolution of 250 meters.
