Hubble Operations – Ground Station Test
Doug Grimes, a member of the flight ops team, works at his station on April 11, 2019, in the Hubble Space Telescope's Mission Operations Room. This room is the only place where commands can be sent to the spacecraft. Commands and data are transmitted to and from Hubble through communication satellites; however, ground stations are used for contingency purposes. On this day, a test was conducted with one of those ground stations at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.
