NISAR KDP-A review occurred on March 19, 2014. The mission passed and is moving into Phase A.
NISAR's antenna directs radar pulses towards a large swath on Earth's surfaces and receives a return signal that correlates with a smaller subsection of that swath. This technique is known as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), which helps scientists create high resolution images of the planet's surface. Note that transmit and receive events overlap in time and space. An offset is shown along the flight path here for clarity between these two events.
