Jim Pawelczyk

Associate Professor of Physiology and Kinesiology

Dr. Jim Pawelczyk is an associate professor of physiology and
kinesiology at The Pennsylvania State University. He founded and
directs Penn State’s Ph.D. program in clinical and translational
sciences and is also a member of the CASIS Board of Directors.

Dr. Pawelczyk’s research is focused on neural control of
circulation, particularly skeletal muscle blood flow, as it is affected
by exercise or spaceflight. Dr. Pawelczyk flew aboard the NASA
STS-90 Space Shuttle mission as a Payload Specialist and logged
over 381 hours in space.

Dr. Pawelczyk earned his BA in Biology and Psychology from the
University of Rochester, MS in Physiology from The Pennsylvania
State University, and PhD in Biology from the University of North
Texas.
