Late Springtime Defrosting of Northern Dunes

Springtime thaw in the north polar region of Mars created this fierce falcon. In the winter, white carbon-dioxide frost (“dry ice”) covers these dunes., It evaporates when the area gets more sun in the spring. The dark 'feathers' are areas where the frost has already flown.
