Sol 2040: Left Navigation Camera, Cylindrical Perspective

NASA's Mars rover Curiosity took 17 images in Gale Crater using its mast-mounted Left Navigation Camera (Navcam) to create this mosaic. The seam-corrected mosaic provides a 360-degree cylindrical-perspective projection panorama of the Martian surface suitable for stereo viewing, centered at 24 degrees azimuth (measured clockwise from north). This single-eye view must be combined with the partner right image to be viewed in stereo.  Curiosity took the images on May 03, 2018, Sol 2040 of the Mars Science Laboratory mission at drive 886, site number 70. The local mean solar time for the image exposures was from 2 PM to 3 PM.
