Your Name Could Go to Mars Aboard NASA’s InSight Lander

NASA's next mission to Mars, the InSight lander, will study the deep interior of Mars to advance understanding of the early history of all rocky planets, including Earth. Through Sept. 8, 2015, members of the public may submit names to be placed on a microchip aboard the lander.

InSight will launch in March 2016 and land on Mars in September 2016. The InSight Project is managed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California, for the NASA Science Mission Directorate, Washington. Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Denver, is building and testing the spacecraft. InSight is part of NASA's Discovery Program, which is managed by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
