GLOBE and My NASA Data Resources Shared at NSTA Conference
From April 12 – May 1, 2021, Angela Rizzi and Elizabeth Joyner presented a series of My NASA Data and NASA GLOBE Cloud sessions at the National Science Teaching Association’s Virtual Conference. A total of 78 teachers participated in five synchronous (recorded) sessions where the presenters shared access to NASA resources and assets for middle and high school science teachers. The presentations included: Level Up Students’ Analysis Skills with NASA Earth Science Data (repeated), Earth Day Data Stories from My NASA Data, and NASA GLOBE Cloud Resources for Synchronous and Asynchronous Learning (repeated). Teachers were provided an overview of the resources available and demonstrations of how to use the resources in virtual and in-person classrooms. Presenters also shared information on how resources connect to national teaching standards and facilitate hands-on science investigations using authentic NASA data.
Dr. Kevin Czajkowski and Janet Struble from the University of Toledo presented about GLOBE’s Urban Heat Island Effect-Surface Temperature Campaign and provided resources to teachers to become GLOBE-trained.
