In southern Borneo smoke from scores of fires (marked in red) mingles with small, puffy clouds in this image from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on August 10, 2003.

The high-resolution image provided here is 500 meters per pixel. The MODIS Rapid Response System provides this scene at MODIS’s maximum spatial resolution of 250 meters.
