Smoke from agricultural fires in northern India continues to back up against the Himalaya Mountains on November 6, 2003. This image shows a river of haze stretching all the way from the Indus River valley (top left) eastward to where the Ganges River empties into the Bay of Bengal (right center edge). At top, the skies over the Tibetan Plateau are clear. This image was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra satellite.
