With its largest wildfire on record (the Hayman Fire) still not fully contained, Colorado (right) continues to be plagued with other forest fires throughout the state, including the Missionary Ridge Fire north of Durango in the southwest, and the Spring Creek Fire several hundred miles to its north. In Utah (left), the Rattle Complex has burned more than 40,000 acres and a new fire has sprung up due west of the larger one. The Hayman Fire is about 90 percent contained, and has dropped below MODIS? fire detection threshold, but the large dark burn scar is quite apparent.

Please note that the high-resolution scene provided here is 500 meters per pixel. For a copy of the scene at the sensor's fullest resolution, visit the MODIS Rapid Response Image Gallery.
