The Jet Propulsion Laboratory and University of California at Irvine organized a workshop to coincide with the Open Source release of ISSM, on December 12-13th, 2011. The workshop hosted 75 participants at JPL, and featured science and technology oriented presentations on the recently released Ice Sheet System Model software. The talks were followed by hands-on classes and tutorials on ISSM, to which 57 cryosphere scientists participated.
The next ISSM workshop will be hosted at the University of California Irvine at the end of 2012, and will feature cryosphere modeling oriented presentations, followed by classes and tutorials on ISSM.
The workshop took place at two locations: at JPL (building 321 Flight Project Center, auditorium) for the morning of Monday December 12th, and at CalTech (Sloan Building, Sloan room) for the afternoon of Monday December 12th and Tuesday December 13th.
To facilitate the logistics of the workshop, and for registrants that had booked a hotel in Pasadena, we offered a shuttle ride from CalTech (bus stop on California Avenue, in front of the CalTech/Sloan building) to JPL on Monday December 12th at 7:30 am. Another shuttle ride was organized on the same day at 1:30 PM from JPL to the CalTech Sloan Room where the tutorials and classes occurred.
