Across the dark brown ridges and rock formations of southern Afghanistan (top), Iran (left) and Pakistan (bottom right) streamers of pale dust swirl over the arid terrain in this Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from August 20, 2003, from the Terra satellite.

The high-resolution image provided above is 500 meters per pixel. The MODIS Rapid Response System provides this image at MODIS? maximum spatial resolution of 250 meters.
