On November 5, 2002, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra satellite captured this true-color image of West Africa and numerous fires (red dots) burning the throughout the Sahel and savannas of Senegal (center left), Mali (center right), and Guinea (bottom).
