In western Russia numerous wildfires (red dots) are filling the skies with smoke. This summer has been an active fire season for the region, and this image suggests it is not winding down yet. This image was acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite on September 4, 2002.
