Fires continue to burn across New Guinea on the southern coastal plain, including several on Irian Jaya’s Dolak Peninsula (left center). The fires, marked with red dots, were detected by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Aqua satellite on November 3, 2003.
