Caldwell 45: Amateur Image vs. Hubble Image
Caldwell 45 (C45) is a spiral galaxy some 59 million light-years away in the constellation Boötes. The Hubble image of Caldwell 45 provides a larger view, showing more of the galaxy. The bluish color swirling around the galaxy’s center indicates the presence of young, hot stars in the galaxy’s spiral arms. The left image was taken with an 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope using a 0.63x focal reducer and a DSLR Camera. The right image was taken by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope’s Wide Field Camera 3.
