Caldwell 48: Amateur Image vs. Hubble Image
Caldwell 48 (C48) is a spiral galaxy some 67 million light years away in the constellation Cancer. This majestic spiral offers a color contrast with its bright-yellow heart and sparkling young, hot, blue stars in its dusty spiral arms. The left image was taken with an 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope using a 0.63x focal reducer and a DSLR Camera. The right image was taken by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope.
