Image taken was taken by the Mars Perseverance rover after collecting the rock sample 21 at Pilot Mountain. There is a drill hole of where the sample was collected along with a few rocks surrounding the area.

Perseverance Collects Mars Rock Sample 21

NASA's Mars Perseverance rover acquired this image using its onboard Right Navigation Camera (Navcam). The camera is located high on the rover's mast and aids in driving. This image was acquired on Aug. 14, 2023 (Sol 882) at the local mean solar time of 15:13:58.
