Engineering Model Testbed Lead

Dr. Sofia Botsi is the Engineering Model Testbed Lead, leading the ground-based copy of the Cold Atom Lab instrument and is responsible for its operation, maintenance, and testing of experiments prior to execution on the flight instrument. She is the Principal Investigator of the optical dipole trap study that may be delivered as an upgrade to a future resupply of the science instrument in orbit, and a Co-Investigator studying ultracold Feshbach molecules in microgravity. Her research interests include precision measurements, quantum simulations, and quantum computations with ultracold atomic and molecular gases. She joined the Cold Atom Lab team as a JPL Postdoctoral Fellow in 2023 after receiving her Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore and her M.Sc. from the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear physics at Heidelberg University.
