Amendment 63: F.20 SMD Bridge Program Deferred to Next Year
The new SMD "Bridge" initiative comprises two separate program elements in ROSES: F.20 SMD Bridge Program and F.23 Bridge Program Seed Funding. The latter (F.23 Seed Funding) continues to be open for proposal submission this year, but the former (F.20) was TBD awaiting this announcement.
When it is offered, F.20 SMD Bridge Program will solicit proposals to develop substantial partnerships between institutions historically under-resourced in the NASA funding system - e.g., Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) such as Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), Primarily Undergraduate Institutions (PUIs), Primarily Black Institutions (PBIs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Community Colleges - and very highly research-intensive universities and NASA Centers.
When ROSES-2023 was released it included F.20 SMD Bridge Program as a TBD placeholder indicating that NASA planned to solicit it as program element F.20 of ROSES-2023. Amendment 63 announces that F.20 SMD Bridge Program will not be solicited this year. However, NASA will solicit this program element in ROSES‑2024.
Questions concerning either of the Bridge program elements may be directed to Patricia (Padi) Boyd at patricia.t.boyd@nasa.gov.
