Amendment 64: NISAR Mission Operations Science Team Final Text and Due Dates

The NASA - Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission is a dual-frequency (L- and S- band) Earth-observing geodetic imaging satellite mission. NISAR will enable new and innovative research science spanning the research and applied science communities including: solid Earth (deformation studies such as earthquakes, volcanoes, land subsidence, permafrost, and landslides), ecosystems (vegetation, the carbon cycle, land surface disturbance, agriculture), cryospheric sciences (ice sheets, sea ice, and mountain glaciers), hydrology (soil moisture, surface water extent, groundwater), wetlands and coastal processes. The launch window for NISAR opens in early 2024. Further information on the NISAR mission can be found at http://nisar.jpl.nasa.gov/.

The NISAR Operations Science Team (NISAR-OST) will assume the post-launch Science Team responsibilities for the mission approximately 6 months after the launch of NISAR and the initial completion of calibration and validation activities.

This opportunity is for membership to the NISAR Operations Science Team (NISAR-OST). Proposals that are question/hypothesis-driven investigations that seek to utilize NISAR data will not be considered for the NISAR-OST as there will be a separate NISAR Research and Applications Science Team program element in ROSES-2024.

ROSES-2023 Amendment 64 releases final text and due dates for A.27 NISAR Mission Operations Science Team (OST). Notices of Intent are requested by January 10, 2024, and proposals are due by February 21, 2024.

Questions concerning A.27 NISAR OST may be directed to Gerald Bawden at gerald.w.bawden@nasa.gov.
