Amendment 25: Final Text and Step-1 Due Date for B.3 Living With a Star Science
B.3 Living With a Star Science (LWS) emphasizes the science necessary to understand those aspects of the coupled Sun-Earth system that affect life and society. The overarching goal of the LWS Program is to provide advances in scientific understanding of this system that can lead to predictive capability of the space environment conditions at Earth, other planetary systems, and in the interplanetary medium. The LWS Science program element solicits Focused Science Topics (FSTs) that address specific parts of this goal. This year’s FSTs are:
- Extreme Solar Events and their Impact on the Heliosphere and Terrestrial Magnetosphere;
- Solar Eruptive Events: Energy Partition and Release Processes;
- Similar Storms, Different Effects: Understanding cross-scale ion-neutral coupling driving the global geomagnetic storm time response.
ROSES-2025 Amendment 25 releases final text and Step-1 due date for B.3 LWS. Step-1 Proposals are due January 21, 2026, and the Step-2 due date will be no earlier than 60 days after Step-2 invitations have been issued, see Section 5.1.
On or about November 25, 2025, this Amendment to the NASA Research Announcement "Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2025" (NNH25ZDA001N) will be posted on the NASA research opportunity homepage at https://solicitation.nasaprs.com/ROSES2025
