Spitzer, the fourth and final mission launched as part of NASA's Great Observatories Program, studied the universe in infrared light. Its discoveries were enabled by studying a wide range of cosmic targets, including some of the most distant galaxies ever observed, hidden stellar nurseries in our home galaxy, and planets around other stars.
