ROSES-25 A.12 HAMAQ Science Team Clarified

Hemispheric Airborne Measurements of Air Quality (HAMAQ) is a NASA-funded project under the EVS-4 program using two aircraft (NASA’s B777 & P-3B) to sample in coordination with satellites (like TEMPO) and surface observations to develop a multi-perspective view of air quality conditions useful for challenging and improving models, see https://science.larc.nasa.gov/hamaq

Program element A.12 HAMAQ Science Team (ST) will work together to address four related objectives:

  • Objective 1. Improve connections between satellites and surface networks through chemically detailed, vertically- and diurnally-resolved measurements.
  • Objective 2. Evaluate the magnitude and timing of emissions and their source apportionment to inform inventories and their relationship to satellite column observations.
  • Objective 3. Investigate and further develop satellite proxies for air quality.
  • Objective 4. Investigate the diversity of factors controlling air quality across multiple urban areas.

Membership is solicited for Instrument teams and for Modeling teams

On or about June 29, 2026, Program element A.12 HAMAQ Science Team (ST) has been clarified: Section 5 on stand-alone no-cost proposals has been updated to explicitly state that those proposals do not include all of the components of normal proposals and to clarify that biosketch(es) are uploaded separately from the anonymized technical proposal with the S/T/M section. Also, Section 11.1 has been updated to conform to the standard requirement that biosketches are required only for Co-Is who would spend > 10% of their time on the project. New text is in bold.

The due date remains unchanged: Proposals are due July 21, 2026.

Questions concerning A.12 HAMAQ ST may be directed to James Crawford at james.h.crawford@nasa.gov and Emma Knowland at k.e.knowland@nasa.gov.
