NASA Earth Action advances the application of geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) for decision support. Earth Action is investing in GeoAI to broaden access, speed development, and lower computational costs for applying Earth observations to complex, user-driven challenges. GeoAI encompasses a rapidly evolving ecosystem of computational approaches including machine learning, Earth observation foundation models, and emerging agentic AI systems. Collectively, these tools can enable users to transform growing volumes of Earth data into actionable information to address real-world challenges.
The GeoAI program fosters collaborative work among AI developers, Earth scientists, application experts, and decision-makers. These collaborations aim to translate emerging GeoAI capabilities into robust, accessible, and operational tools that address the needs of end users.
