Webb Mirror Paper Snowflake Activity

Graphic of the Webb mirror paper snowflake activity. Against a solid dark purple background are three visuals. At the very left is a white sheet of paper titled “Webb Mirror Paper Snowflake” with step-by-step directions for the activity. The paper is partially overlaid with a white triangle with a section of the gold-colored Webb mirror snowflake design at center. A dashed line goes along the edges of the white triangle, representing that this is a sheet of paper that has been folded according to the activity’s directions. At right is the Webb mirror snowflake design, which features the Webb primary mirror’s hexagonal segments with evergreen needles and cones at the edges.

Here is a fun hands-on activity to celebrate the Webb Telescope launch!

How to steps

  1. Download and print the Snowflake Instructions
  2. Follow the instruction sheet for folding your snowflake paper
  3. Cut the template out of the Snowflake Instructions sheet and trace the template onto your folded snowflake paper
  4. Following your tracing, cut out and carefully unfold your Webb Snowflake.

The snowflake pattern can be made using either an 8.5" x 11" or an 8.5" x 8.5" square piece of paper along with scissors. Try making the snowflake out of tissue or wax paper too!
