As autumn advances in the Northern Hemisphere, browns and golds overtake the landscape of northern China. Centered in this image from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra satellite is a collection of fires (marked in red), which are probably agricultural in nature. The image was captured on October 13, 2004.
