A thick pall of sand and dust (brownish pixels) blew out from the Sahara Desert over the Atlantic Ocean on April 22, 2002, engulfing the Canary Islands in the Eastern Atlantic Ocean. This true-color image was acquired by the Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), flying aboard NASA’s Terra satellite.
