This Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from September 30, 2003, shows numerous fires (red dots) burning across Indonesia. Smoke from the fires hangs over the scene, obscuring the landscape beneath. Fire is a serious threat to Indonesia’s remaining tropical forests.
