On July 29, 2003, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Aqua satellite captured this image of ongoing wildfires in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Canada (top) and northwestern Montana (below). Active fire detections by MODIS have been marked with red outlines.
