Fires Surrounding Lake Baikal

Scores of forest fires east of Lake Baikal in southern Russia continue to billow huge clouds of smoke over the country. The fires producing the smoke have been marked with red dots in this true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from the Aqua satellite on June 13, 2003.
