Amendment 58: D.19 Habitable Worlds Observatory System Technology Demonstrations and Mission Architecture Studies DRAFT Text released for community comment.
When it is solicited, D.19 Habitable Worlds Observatory System Technology Demonstrations and Mission Architecture Studies (HWOTAS) will seek industry-led proposals to carry out (1) system-level critical technology demonstrations for ultra-stable observatories and/or (2) mission architecture studies for system-level ultra-stable observatory approaches for the Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO).
The solicited system-level technology demonstrations are expected to increase the Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) to close crucial technology gaps and to inform architecture trades, retire or mitigate project risks, and/or decrease fabrication lead times and overall cost in implementing technologies necessary for HWO.
The solicited mission architecture studies are expected to advance HWO’s Concept Maturity Levels (CMLs) by assessing the benefits, sensitivities, and risks of NASA-provided HWO mission architecture concepts and associated parameter studies that are currently under consideration
Successful responses to this program element will result in firm-fixed-price contracts incrementally funded through milestone payments.
