This audio resource features a fascinating conversation with Dr. John Phillips from the Space Weather Living History project, which preserves important perspectives from key figures in heliophysics.
Dr. Lennard Fisk recounts the evolution of the Heliophysics Division at NASA and how IMP missions made space weather measurements. Prior to joining the University of Michigan in 1993, Professor Fisk was the Associate Administrator for Space Science and Applications of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. He also conducted research ranging from the surface of the Sun to the edge of the interstellar medium. In the interview, Fisk recounts an interesting dinnertime conversation he once had with Neil Armstrong, and described how what Armstrong feared the most on the Apollo 11 mission was a solar flare.
